Description:

Vision which is "smeared" or "streaked" is another perceptual phenomena reported by eye injury and refractive surgery patients. Although "smear" may seem to a less than technical term, many patients find that it nevertheless provides the best description of what they see. Some patients report their vision is smeared in two or more directions in a single eye. Like ghosts, smears vary in their transparency, with some being darker than others. Smears may be due to a higher order aberration known as coma, often caused by decentered ablations.

Directions:
1. Choose the direction of the smear. Eight directions are available.

2. Choose an Intensity Level. The greater the intensity, the longer the smear.

3. Choose a thumbnail, or enter the URL of an image found elsewhere on the internet, or on your local drive.

4. Some images and colors will probably work better than others.
